BestStart Pleasant Point provides quality education and care for children aged between 3 months to 5 years old. We've been rated one of the top childcare centres in NZ by the Education Review Office.

Situated within a lovely rural township, our centre has three spacious rooms, and outdoor play areas, catering for the individual needs of infants right through to kindergarten age children. These rooms are well resourced, with a friendly team of teachers who work alongside the children to accommodate and support their learning. Throughout our centre we are wholly committed to creating an environment that not only invites, but actively encourages discovery and curiosity. Our infant and toddlers room values warm and responsive interactions, within a calm and settled environment, ensuring optimal care.

Relationships (ngā hononga), are embedded in our centre philosophy, within a welcoming, inclusive and responsive learning environment. We value the importance of open and collaborative relationships with families (whanaungatanga), incorporating their aspirations and expectations within individual learning journeys of their child. Respect(manaakitanga), is also embedded in our daily programme, supporting children in their social competence, their empathy, awareness and consideration of others.

Te Whāriki 2017, the revised Early Childhood Curriculum, guides our programme, with teachers responsive to the individual interests and strengths of children, empowering them to have greater involvement in their learning, encouraging independence, co-operation and thoughtfulness.  We strive for children to see themselves as successful learners, supported through their sense of belonging and agency, and in turn, their contributions to their own learning and the learning of their peers. We encourage and develop school readiness by laying the foundations for future learning through the joy of play and active exploration.

We have recently achieved an excellent ERO review, reflecting the passion and dedication of our teaching team, and the quality care and education we provide for all our tamariki.
